The Sacrament of Penance, also know as the Rite of Reconciliation, is the “liturgical celebration of God’s forgiveness of the sins of the penitent, who is thus reconciled with God and with the Church. The acts of the penitent – contrition, the confession of sins, and satisfaction or reparation-together with the prayer of absolution by the priest, constitute the essential elements of the Sacrament of Penance” (CCC, 980, 1422, 1440, 1448).
At St. Paul’s in the upper church: Saturdays 3:00 – 4:30 PM and by appointment with one of the priests. In addition, during the academic year: Thursdays 1:30 – 3:30 PM; Wednesdays during Advent and Lent 6:30 – 8:00 PM
THE LIGHT IS ON FOR YOU – LENTEN CONFESSIONS
On the Wednesdays of Lent (February 25, March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 1) here at St. Paul’s as in all churches and chapels across the Archdiocese of Boston, the faithful will have the opportunity to avail themselves of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession), from 6:30pm – 8:00 pm. A website, www.TheLightIsOnForYou.org, has been set up by the Archdiocese to help you prepare for the Sacrament of Penance. The site has videos on the Sacrament of Reconciliation, sheets on how to make a good confession, answers to frequently asked questions about the sacrament and more. Please make plans to come on these Wednesdays and spread the word of this special outreach of mercy to friends and family.
